The Journey Continues….

Its the journey that matters at the end…. yes we feel that.

www.kidsy.com.auOfficially its the birthday Month for Kidsy. Last year same time, I was in full preparation to launch the business. Sometimes, I do feel very heavy to use the word “Business” as it was merely an idea in my head and nothing more than that.

However, by this week last year, I had convince myself strong enough that, there is no harm in trying, and above all it will be lots of fun. You see, there are so many inspirational stories shared on Tiktok and it all makes it look so breezy that you fall for it.

So by now, I already designed the logo, stock was ordered, packaging supplies was on its way. I was slowly making my way through the social media platforms, by creating different accounts.

This all may sound very straightforward, but its the human mind you see! How, it just cannot accept the trouble free process, so it starts creating doubts and fear. I did fall for that too :-(.

So in amidst of all this progress, there I was with excitement of launching and preparing for something new but then covered in full of doubts as well.

Advantage or a disadvantage?

The biggest advantage of starting a Kids Fashion store as a small business, is that I can try and test the products in-house. My kids are the models and quality testers of the kids clothing we sell on Kidsy!

Having a 5 year old girl and a 3 year old boy give me the range to examine the quality of the items from durability, endurance, look and style. I always have to make the mother side recessive and keep nudging the business side, as the mother side always wants to keep the items instead of selling 🙂

My darling daughter really loved on the Top and pant set and insisted in keeping it because it was her favorite color. I had no choice but to give up but the good part was, it enabled me to test it to the core.

As this set was very soft, her favourite colour and favourite animal printed on it, she wore it a zillion times and it went through many wash cycles.

Even after 5 months of rigorous use, the colour is stable and the quality is maintained, which I am very happy about. So, it did pass a very high standard of quality testing (lol) but unfortunately did not made to the selling list 🙂

Kidsy do have other colour in the same set for 5 -6 year old boys and 2 sets of girls in blue colour. Please visit www.kidsy.com.au to browse through the range.

Happy shopping.

Its Not Easy!

When in hurts – Observe.

Well yes, that fits in very deep right now. It is very strange, how life goes completely opposite to what we have planned. Last year during pandemic, I started to bring my passion to surface and into some kind of reality by launching the kids wear brand www.kidsy.com.au. I was so elevated with the response and with a bigger plan welcomed 2021, little did I knew that it will come crashing down, before even taking off!!!!!!!

While dealing with all the swirling complexities and tragedies, loosing all the motivation and courage to even function in day to day life, finally coming to a turning point. Its very strange, how the human anatomy works.

Slowly and steadily, trying to get back on to chasing my dreams. This time with some added life experience, I can say.

So not everything goes as planned in life but that’s OK.

Kidsy will be coming back to life soon. Get ready for some amazing outfits for the little superstars. STAY TUNED!

The Skinny Troubles!

This is the most common issue, I faced while buying clothes for my kids. I am not sure, if its only me or there are others in the same boat.

Both my kids are skinny, don’t get me any other way at all. They are beautiful kids with awesome features and very tall hahah always in the 90th percentile for height growth, but when it comes to size they are no where near to “plump” they have always been in the average category of chubbiness’.

If, I will be very honest did I miss that part… oh hell yeah! Especially, when I have to buy clothes for them. It’s such an tiresome job because most of the clothes you see our made in usual fits, yes they have the adjustable elastics inside but it doesn’t help.

I have bought those pants and jeans for my boy and adjusted the elastic to the maximum, but it doesn’t work, and on top of it, the whole garment just takes a very weird shape . Numerous times, I have been so confident that it will be the perfect fit and I have bought good $30-$50 jeans/pants.

With all my conviction, I set him free in the park for run or that party we go to, or the coffee date or those endless occasions where I was filled with overconfidence, to notice that its just slipping away with the diaper 😦 and I have spent the whole time adjusting his pants. I have tried everything, using suspenders etc but no avail.

Tested and tried the elastic options as well but not strong enough. Therefore, every time I find something with a good hold, I just go crazy buying.

If any of you relate to me or understand what I am talking about, just drop a comment. 🙂

The Buying Loop- Kidswear

Are you the mum who is stuck in the buying loop?

So this is how it starts, we all want our kids to look voguish but the outfits we spent hundreds on are saved for special occasions or for those gatherings, because you know they can’t sustain it. We take them to the park, or playdates and that dress your bought for nearly $80 is covered in dirt, food etc and you feel that it wasn’t worth it. So what we do, we go to the departmental store, look for sale stuff and fill up the wardrobe with $5-$15 dollar stuff which has no style, its the same print, usual t-shirts, dresses’ with similar prints with no “WOW” factor in them.

This is where the loop starts for two reasons 1. This time the clothes are not sustainable, one wash and they loose all the elasticity, and charm. 2. Those clothes have no style, what so ever and when you see someone else’s kid wearing great, up-to date, modern outfits you feel that spending money is the only solution and you are stuck in this never ending bubble. What we end up is bag full of clothes for donation at the end.

One of the very reasons we came up with Kidsy, because we don’t want to bulk up on clothes, instead we need some stylish everyday pieces without breaking the bank and ultimately to feel proud of the looks created rather than guilty.

Kids Wear: Expectation Vs Reality

Let’s accept it, we all want our children to look world class and we are always in hunt to draw inspiration from the latest kids fashion style. Personally, I have always craved for stylish and quality clothes for my kids. There is no better moment than looking at your kids, who are dressed so stylishly that it just melts your heart and you felt so proud for buying that particular outfit. We definitely want to buy more and more, because we all know they are not going to be little for long, they are growing day by day.

But then hits the reality, buying one outfit on an average just cost between $70- $80 dollars, so even when you stretch to maximum, at once you can only buy 1 or 2, otherwise the bill shoots up to $200 plus and then you feel so guilty about the expenditure, when its not even going to last for few weeks or say month as they grow out of it so easily.

So for their regular clothing we are forced to go the departmental stores or look out for cheap sales and then we are back to the same exhausting clothes and patterns with no style in them . Especially, in Australia when all the specialty stores just shut their door over the time and we are left with such limited options. This was the main reason we came up with Kidsy, because our idea is to provide modish range for kids without costing a lot. Our idea is that even the daily wear has to be insanely fashionable, not just special occasion ones.
